I met Mof and his daughter Jandri from Adansonia Safari’s at a sportsman show in Salt Lake City, Utah, a year and a half ago. It had always been a dream of mine to come to Africa and hunt a Cape Buffalo. My son, Danny and I booked the hunt and were pleased to be able to include our wives on the trip. This week we arrived at Adansonia in South Africa. Our first hunt my daughter in law, Sarah and I each shot a Gemsbok (Oryx) and Danny harvested a Wildebeest.Great first day!
That evening at dinner I mentioned to Mof my desire for a large Cape buffalo 40 inches or larger. He said he had one that was 47” and he could get me on it. The next morning, we set out after the Large Buffalo. Locating and figuring out how to get a shot, took several hours of hard work tracking and chasing until finally getting the opportunity for a shot as a buffalo came out of the brush running and crossed the road. My wife and I prayed that morning that God would give us a safe and productive hunt and He certainly answered our prayers. With only a half second to make the shot, by miracle, I hit the bull mid-chest and obviously hit the spine, dropping it instantly. Three more follow up shots and the hunt was over.
